DALLAS is in TEXAS!

We were so excited when our son, Dallas, said he was going to drive down from Indiana to visit us in Texas for a few days. He came and brought his traveling buddy, Don, to keep him company and navigate. Dallas drove 20 1/2 hrs straight through, arriving 1:30AM Sunday. They pulled a little pop-up camper along behind the van so are staying here at Hill Country RV with us. We've had a great time visiting with family, driving down to Corpus Christi to see the ocean, walking up and down The Riverwalk in San Antonio, seeing the Alamo and, of course, eating at Rudy's. The finale was a little two-stepping at a genuine Texas honky-tonk -- Cowboys DanceHall. We think Dallas had a fun time in Texas and sounds like he'll be back next year!

Just Hangin' Out

Our good friends, Fred & Faye, came to spend the weekend with us here at Hill Country RV Resort in New Braunfels.

It was a beautiful day for a drive on Saturday so we took them on a little tour of some Texas towns. The highlight of the day was probably our stop in Luckenbach where they were celebrating their annual "Hug-in" and there were people, music and bikers everywhere! We also drove through Blanco & Kerrville and stopped in Fredericksburg and had lunch.

On Sunday after church, we took them down to Von Ormy to meet Phillip Skees (his relatives are Howard & Judy Skees from Buck Creek, IN) at AJM Foods -- a "quaint" little Mexican restaurant/grocery.
We had a fun time together as always!

Let's Rodeo San Antonio!

We're back in Texas! We are staying a little north of San Antonio at the Hill Country RV Resort in New Braunfels. It's a nice RV park with lots of activities and amentities and the rent is cheaper too.

We (Doug, Elaine, Jenee, Caelum & Aden) spent the day at the San Antonio Rodeo and enjoyed it as much as last year. I asked the kids what their favorite part was and they both agreed getting to ride on the "real" horse carousel. They also had fun at the petting zoo and sliding down the big inflated slides. Aden loved getting to see all the horses and they both really liked watching the calf roping event. My favorite was bull riding!
